2. Wilson CARTWRIGHT was born about 1802 in NC. He was a County Clerk in 1822 in Hawkins Co, TN. He served in the military in 1836 in Carroll Co Rangers, under Comdr. William Schyl. He appeared on the census in 1840 in Carroll Co, Ga, where he owned 8 slaves He was a Justice of the Peace in 1843 in Carroll Co, Ga. He preformed the marriage of Joseph Cartwright and Eliza Hope Dane, indicating a close relationship. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South in 1859 near present day Temple, Carroll Co, GA. He died after 1870 in Carroll Co, Ga.
He was married to Susannah "Susan" before 1825 in
Tennessee. Susannah "Susan"
was born about 1805 in Tennessee. She died between 1850 and 1860
in Carroll Co, Ga. One researcher lists her as Susannah Ragains,
daughter of Thomas Ragains. However, my research has revealed
Susanah, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Ragains, was born Sep
1787, making her quite a bit older than Susannah Cartwright. This
older Susannah married a John Cartwright. Wilson CARTWRIGHT and
