5. Peter CARTWRIGHT was born in 1687 in St. Mary's Co., Md. He died on 15 Jun 1751 in Charles Co., Md.. He was a Tobacco Planter. Peter inherited 100 acres at Chaptico, St. Mary's Co., Md, in 1688-9 upon the death of his father, Matthew.

He was married to Judith SLYE (daughter of Robert SLYE and Priscilla GOLDSMITH(?) about 1714 in St. Charles, Co,  MD.

He was married to Esther _____ about 1725 in Charles Co., MD.

Peter CARTWRIGHT had the following children:

child13 ii. Margaret CARTWRIGHT was born in 1722 in Maryland? or Virginia?. She was reportedly Robert's twin sister.
child+14 iii. John CARTWRIGHT.
child+15 i. Thomas CARTWRIGHT.
child+16 ii. Judith CARTWRIGHT.
child17 iii. Lidia CARTWRIGHT.  was born before 1728 in Md. She was married to Aeneas CAMPBELL. Aeneas CAMPBELL was born about 1730. He died in 1812.
child18 iv. Vadry CARTWRIGHT was born before 1728 in Md.
child+19 v. Matthew CARTWRIGHT.
child+20 vi. Rebecca "Reba" CARTWRIGHT.
child21 vii. Samuel CARTWRIGHT was born in Feb 1732 in Md
child+22 viii. Jesse CARTWRIGHT.
child23 ix. Drucilla CARTWRIGHT was born in Aug 1737 in Md
child+24 x. Gustavus CARTWRIGHT.

Notes on Peter:  It is uncertain whether Peter was actually married twice, or if  Judith and Esther might have been the same person.  There also appears to be some confusion as to which, if there were two wives,  was the mother of which children.  If the birth years of the children are correct, then Judith would have been the mother of more than just one of the children, but probably not all, unless of course she was in fact Judith Esther or Esther Judith, one and the same person.
