Original record at Carroll Co., GA Courthouse, Indigent (Confederate) Soldiers Pension Roll, lists A. S. Cartright, enlisted Co. F, Cobbs Legion 1862. Discharged at Close of War. Pension of $60/yr. granted for Infirmity and Poverty (W. W. Fetts, M.D. and J. D. Hamrick, witnesses). Pension checks issued 1896, 1897, and 1898.

He was married to Susan Elizabeth WEST (daughter of John WEST and Caroline/Clarisa ROBERTS) on 27 Sep 1866 in Carroll Co, Ga. Susan Elizabeth WEST was born on 7 Nov 1848 in Georgia?. She died on 7 Aug 1926. She was buried on 8 Aug 1926 in Hickory Level, Concord Methodist Church Cemetery, Carroll Co, GA.

Notes of Judy Morris, descendant:

Article in Aug. 11, 1926 Carroll County Times, said that Susan Cartright died about 6:00 Saturday morning on the way to breakfast in the home of Mrs. Jane Spruell, Temple, GA, where she had been living "with family." [Who was Jane Spruell?*] Susan's burial was Aug. 8 at Hickory Level cemetery with Rev. Brown conducting the service. Surviving children were listed as:

*Nancy Jane Gray md. Gabriel A. Spruell Jan. 18, 1877. There is also a memorial window in the Temple United Methodist Church honoring Dr. and Mrs. T. M. Spruell and family according to history booklet about that church found in Carrollton, GA public library. Headstones in the Concord Methodist Church cemetery for Thompson M. Spruell, b. Oct. 13, 1867 and d. July 25, 1952, and Sarah Ida Spruell, b. Aug. 12, 1871 and d. Mar. 6, 1948.
